The Winged Ones

Media: Corel Painter 6.1
Time: I really don't know... not too long, but not short either.
Date of Completion: December 22, 2004

This pic was an anime pic in the sketch stages. Also, the angel used to be a young, pretty girl prior to coloring. Now I'm not even sure if it's a she. =P Oh well, I suppose an angel can be androgynous...

For those of you who don't know, Painter 6 does this funky... thing when blending colors. It's a tricky business, and the result is often unpredictable. Don't know if other versions of Painter do that... Photoshop certainly doesn't. Well, despite all that, I managed to come up with something satisfactory!

So what's the meaning of this picture? Well, the angel has opened the small cage, setting the butterflies free. (She/he is holding a key in her left hand, but it might be hard to see at this size.) But the angel herself is still locked up in a cage, which symbolizes... whatever you want it to symbolize, really. Maybe it means nothing. It's just a setting that popped up in my head.

BTW, this is another color adjusted pic. See the original here. Totally different moods ^^;; strangely, the adjusted version feels a lot closer to what I had in mind than the original version.
